Abstract

The article describes the problem of academic dishonesty. Looking over the results of research done in foreign countries (the USA, Romania, Poland), it is possible to assert that the ethics of a scientist is a topical problem nowadays not only in Lithuania but also all over the world. The results of pilot research show that although in all curricula, textbooks and other sources it is declared that each researcher or a team must keep to certain ethics rules, not everything goes well. Respondents were first year PhD students of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (N=51). Taking into account the results, more attention should be paid to the analysis and correction of the situation.
