Zofija Stanevičienė

Abstract

This article deals with German borrowings, found in Old Prussian catechisms. It describes their phonetical and morphological adaptation and presents the chronological and semantical characteristic of these borrowings. The article gives a short  review about the circumstances of the genesis of Old Prussian Catechisms and the quality of translations. In the middle of the 16th century, when the translations were made, the interference of German was obvious in the grammatical and in lexical system.
