Issues of Quality in Teaching / Learning English at Tertiary Level

Abstract


The main factors in the overall quality of teaching and learning are learner’s ability to self-assess one’s progress and accomplishments, evaluation of learning outcomes and assessment of teaching quality. This paper addresses research into the idea of continuity of quality issues in teaching and learning through learner self-assessment of language skills and language knowledge, formal evaluation of learner performance in English for Specific Purposes, and evaluation of teaching by learners. The implications of the findings for learner and teacher development are discussed.
