Abstract
There are printing trade terms from the International Words’ Dictionary of 1936 (com. K. Boruta, Pr. Čepėnas, A. Sirutytė-Čepėnienė) considered in this article.
The article analyses the background of printing trades’ terms. The definitions of printing trade terms in the International Words’ Dictionary of 1936 are compared with terms of the International Words’ Dictionary (2007), compiled by V. Vaitkevičiūtė. The article also investigates contemporary Lithuanian equivalents of terms presented in the overviewed dictionary. There are loanword evaluation levels presented according to “Kalbos patarimai” (4). The International Words’ Dictionary of 1936 is a hard background for later international words’ dictionaries. There is an authentic language of IWD (1936) and publications introduced in the work.
